Gowin, a level 2 BBBEE contributor, has more than 11 years’ experience in dust control and management. We offer a complete dust management solution for haul and secondary roads, nationally or Internationally.

Our service includes the following:

  • Supply of a dust suppression product, Gowin DS
  • Full road maintenance of haul/secondary roads which consists of:
    • the initial road treatment
    • continuous maintenance and treatment
    • quality monitoring

Why Dust Management?

Dust emissions, generated during transport, physical mining and handling of mining ore are becoming a growing concern due to the following reasons:

  • Health – inhalation of the dust particles
  • Safety – poor visibility can lead to accidents
  • Downtime – impaired equipment
  • Productivity – poor visibility can halt hauling operations, especially at night

Section 8 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act No. 85 of 1993, as amended, places the onus on the employer to provide and maintain, as far as is reasonably practicable, a working environment that is safe and without risk to the health of his employees.

For these reasons dust emissions should be controlled on a continuous basis.

Why not use water for Dust Management?

  • For many years water has been the most commonly used dust suppressant and regarded as the cheapest temporary treatment of dust.  However, with the scarcity of water the frequent re-application of water in most cases makes this method the least productive and not a cost effective option.
